Default Best Fuse Removal Tool

Hi there,

I am looking for the best fuse removal tool to toy with when I will swap my 5 × 20 mm and 6.3 × 32 mm fuses in my amplifier and other hi fi equipments. The last time I swapped a fuse I used a scriber made out of steel and sparks went off... Luckily nothing broken but I don't want to take any more chances. Check the pictures of the fuse sockets so this will give an idea of the tool that would be best suited.

Thanks!

I always unplug the device and just use a small screwdriver.

When that little accident happened, I had unplugged the amplifier but I believe it was still on. I've waited a few second for the caps to drain out but wasn't sufficient enough it seems.

As a possible alternative, I've found this one. See picture. It's 24$ and Prime option is available. The only things is that the twizers are made of steel.

Serge,
You can probably buy one of the tools Dan showed at a local hardware store.

Serge.......I would pass on the needle nose fuse puller. The Ideal fuse puller , part number 34-015, is precisely what you need. I did an Ideal part number search on Google and came up with a long list of companies that sell this fuse puller.

https://www.google.com/search?q=Idea...hrome&ie=UTF-8

You might also check the electrical aisle at Lowes and Home Depot. Both carry Ideal products.

Here’s a fuse puller on Home Depot’s Canada site. If it’s not in stock at your local HD, you can order it for pickup at the nearest store.

Tony.......Unfortunately, that particular Ideal 34-002 fuse puller, which I own by the way, is not designed to remove small 5mm or 6.3mm fuses that are typical for audio applications. The jaw, even on the small end, is too large to fit into the typical tight confines of electrical circuit boards. The fuse puller you reference is primarily used to insert and pull barrel type fuses from electrical disconnects and electrical control panels. I don't believe it would be useful for the purpose that Serge intends to use it.

Ideal 34-002

The Ideal 34-015 fuse puller is available on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Ideal-Industr...4891390&sr=8-4
