Hi Chris M.... My apologies, I saw your welcome post only today!

Have you received your K1? How are you enjoying it?

Thank you Ivan, Very Interesting... Does this mean that the various filters like S_dly 1 and 2 present on K-01 have been removed from the K1 settings?

Not at all objecting to K1 reverting to a legacy X-01-like simplicity... Some excellent stand-alone DACs are also opting for a simplified "launch and forget" UI, like my own Rowland Aeris.

Hi Guido,

All good here in Perth thanks.

My K1 is still running in after I had a lot of work done in other parts of my system including major upgrades to my Absolare 845 amplifiers over many weeks so I am just approaching 200 hours my K1.

As Ivan mentioned previously, straight out of the box the K1 is excellent but the sound has been evolving and gradually improving since then. I will keep you posted about the duration once it has settled down.

By the way Ivan – or any other K1 owners – has anyone upgraded fuses yet?
I had significant improvements to performance of my P-03U and D-03 as well as my G-0s Master Clock when I upgraded their fuses to Telos Quantum or Synergistic Research BLACK and would be very surprised if a similar upgrade did not yield a similar lift in performance with the K1?

Cheers

Chris

Thank you so much Chris... Please continue to keep us posted on your K1's break-in progress, and at what point in time it will complete break-in.

BTW... I wonder if K1 used as a transport via coaxial 75 Ohm connection into a stand-alone DAC -- like my Rowland Aeris -- would yield a significant audible advantage over an older Esoteric single box model... Such as K-01 X, original K-01, or even the trusty old X-01 Ltd that I am still using in transport mode for redbooks.

Saluti, Guido

Fair question... Currently, I have no linestage, hence I would feed K1 SPDIF into my Aeris DAC.

Having said this, at some point I might be interested in reintroducing a linestage, and at that point compare:

* K1 into Aeris via Coax, and then into linestage.

* K1 into linestage, sens Aeris.

X-01 into Aeris via Coax, no line stage.

Which one would I prefer... I really have no idea.

Regards, G.

Hi Guido,

As far as I know the K1 transport is same mechanism as in the Grandioso P1 so I expect it would be hard to find a better transport in any case and having used both X-01 and P-03 for many years I know exactly how much the better models increase in performance...

That said, the performance of the K1s internal DAC really is light years beyond any other Esoteric DAC I have heard so I would be surprised if it did not seriously eclipse the performance of your JRDG DAC which if superfluous could well offset investment in a fine linestage if you decided to take on the K1.

It really is that good, and I and a good friend here were totally shocked at how much better the K1 was than his 5-box P-01VU/D-01VU rig.

Will be happy to keep you posted as the burn in progresses.

Just put another 5 hours into the K1 tonight in fact, and in combination with my Absolare Altius 845 amps and Absolare Altius tube linestage being nicely warmed up the sound is simply breathtaking.

Cheers

Chris

My K1 is in route. I should have it by Tuesday. I’m pumped! Can’t wait to hook it up
