The Dytek units have no resets. They use LED's to let you know they a functioning properly. My oldest Dytek unit over 12 years old. It is mounted on a pole outside next to my incoming main service. I have no idea how many times it has clamped and shunted to ground voltage spikes. It uses two LED's that monitor each of the two phases. About 6 months ago I noticed one of the LED's was no longer lite. I removed the surge arrestor from the main panel, shipped it to Dytek after calling them, and they replace a bad LED. The surge arrestor still tested to factory specs after 12 years. They shipped it back, and di not charge me a dime. I reinstalled it, and all is well. The newer Dytek surge arrestors use a single LED. Dytek's warranty is 10 years.

There are other companies that manufacture quality surge protection. Square-D, and Siemens come to mind. I like Dytek because it is manufactured in Largo, Florida, which is one of the highest lightning strike locations in the US. These folks know their stuff, and they stand behind what they make.

Personally, I use four layers of protection.

1) Whole house surge protection via SurgeX

2) PurePower on everything but Amps

3) PPP's on everything including Amps

4) RGPC's on every dedicated outlet at the service box

Overkill... Yes, but it sure makes me feel safe.

Serge, I share your grief.

And if you would be my neighbor, I would invite you every night (all your family) to watch a movie till your system setup has been replaced and working back.

* For music listening I would lend you a pair of loudspeakers (good ones) plus an integrated amp and turntable (or R2R or SACD player).

Keep the moral higher than what it is,
Bob

Dan, sounds like a company that stands behind their products and builds them right from the get go.
