I used 1-1/4" long philips pan head screws with a 10-32 thread.

Whee did you find a pristine L72 cabinet? Great look.

I love this! A couple of notes:

The vents in the wood do not match the vents on a C22 III--mine has a smaller vent area toward the rear, but additional vents toward the front and side. I do not know if that will prove significant over time.

I tried to find an L72 cabinet online, but could not. But there is an ebay seller offering custom Mc cabinets for $285.

The vent located towards the back of the C22 which is directly above the tubes matches up with the vent on the wood cabinet, and you are right, the other vents do not. I did some testing before installing the preamp in the wood cabinet and checked the heat source on the preamp several times and found that it only got warm at the vent above the tubes. Since it is ventilated there and that vent is right below the wood cabinet vent, I wasn’t too worried. Also, there is a small air gap between the inside of the wood case and the exterior of the C22 so air can move around. So far, I’m not noticing any additional heat build up and I keep my house around 70-72 degrees. If it does become an issue, I can purchase from Mcintosh a replacement metal cover, then cut out a larger area right below the vent found on the wood cabinet and install it instead onto the C22. I would just store the original uncut metal cover away in my C22 shipping carton should I ever want to remove the C22 from the wood cabinet and put it back onto the preamp. This would then keep my preamp all original. I may in fact do this for added protection.

FYI, the bottom of the L72 cabinet is mostly open too and the feet that come on it are quite tall so that adds extra air flow.

As far as where I found the cabinet, it was on the bay. The seller was local to me and offered free pickup so that’s what I did. The condition was amazing.

Here's another picture.

Thanks. I kept the information for future use. I have two L72 cases I'm not currently using, but I may want to use them later.

Beautiful! So nice with the Mission furniture.

But where's the 275? We just need to figure out how to wrap some walnut around the base...

Here's the MC275 and the Sonus Fabers. I'm running Wire World Eclipse 8 balanced cables between the C22 and the MC275. I wanted the silver Eclipse 8 but the price jump over the Eclipse 8 for the length was a little more than I budgeted at the time. Maybe a future upgrade.

The MR7084 is put away right now because I'm waiting for the L70 cabinet for it which should be here tomorrow. I don't really use a tuner anymore so the MR7084 gets the job done when I want one. When I get it installed in the cabinet and hooked up, I'll post another photo of the system.
