Default C22 III and McIntosh L72 Cabinet

I picked up an old Mcintosh L72 cabinet the other day to see if it would work with my C22 III. I was told it would not but after checking the measurements it looked like it would so I took a chance. Guess what, my C22 III fit perfectly. The holes where the screw go through on the bottom even matched up, I was amazed! I think this looks better than it being bare and I like the retro look.

Here’s another photo taken tonight. The color is off due to the low light but it gives an idea as to the fit.

Do the opening vents of the cabinet match the C22 ones? I just wonder that
the tubes will have a way to cool enough if the cabinet restricts the vents.
Otherwise, it does look even more vintage

They do, they’re right above the tubes. I can actually see the tube glow when looking through the cabinet vent. Plus the bottom has a huge opening which allows air to flow through from bottom to top.

Looks great! It seems that wood-cased components - which were once quite common - have mostly gone out of fashion. Like Mac, ARC also once sold wood cases for its components, and of course many components once included integral wood cases right from the factory.

I like the look of wood, especially in a domestic environment, where it helps soften the rather industrial appearance of many components. So here's to you, Stahle, with the hope that you've revived a trend!
