So I've probably narrowed it down to the HSU VTF-3 MK4 or the SVS PB12-NSD or the SB12-NSD. Any opinions? I'm going to call SVS and see what they recommend between the SB and the PB

I demoed two SVS SB12-NSD. Beautiful build quality but they were not powerful enough for my room. You might be better off with the SVS PB12-NSD, but room size is a big factor.
I bought the SB13-Ultra and it is in another league altogether and I love it.

Thy have a feature called 'Merlin' on their website, it's a program that recommends particular subs based on your particular needs and also suggests the best crossover point to your main speakers based on brand and model. They also have online 'live chat'.

Not to go against anyone else who was recommending something different but I really like my Sunfire Subwoofer and it is probably pretty easy to find them at or maybe even a bit below 1K now.

I too am thinking of getting a bit better sub for my system. I may use a MEN220 to use the sub with my Maxx2s, but may also just use it in the HT system. I like the way the SVS SB13 ultra looks, and from what I can tell, the sealed is a good choice if you think using it with music is in the future?

update:
after getting feedback from several sources, and talking with SVS and some others, I ended up ordering the SVS SB13 Ultra. Will report.

-- Chad, HSU and SVS, both companies make excellent subs for the money (below $1,000).

* Just check pro reviews online.
