I kinda wish esoteric would release players that integrate Ethernet streaming with disc playing functions. I've been using a K03 with an sotm SMS100 for streaming and it would be great if everything can be all in one place.

Not arguing against it, I understand the convenience but there are reasons why it might be better to keep them separate, like for upgradeability. I have an Intel nuc with roon os feeding my k01x through usb, I think it's a great setup. I'm also able to take advantage of a separate clock with the USB input.

Having clock, dac, and player separate allows you to upgrade components independently.

Good point, but with me being into vinyl as well, I have a huge line-up of things to plug in, and simplifying a little would be nice.

Cheers.

So Mark Levinson released exactly what you asked for in the No519 ... cd transport, streaming player, Dac and preamp all in one very sexy box. Too bad it didn’t sound as good as it looked and I’m a Levinson fan.

Default A+

Interestingly, after that bad review by JVS, Stereophile ranked the Esoteric N-01 in its top "A+" category! So did they dismiss that JVS review as biased or messed up? Or were there complaints? Dunno.
