Ah that explains it then. The Constellation amps are good, but not in the same league as Vitus Sig Series The setup Magico had at CES with Vitus Signature Series mono's & an MP Series preamp sounded sensational according to Hans Wetzel from Soundstage Network.

The most haunting midrange i've ever heard was from a pair of Magico Q1's with a Vitus SIA-025, SCD-010 and Siltech Royal Signature series cables. I have never forgotten that. Getting the right synergy is very important to get the best out of Magico speakers That's taking nothing away from the lovely Harbeths however.

Matt, Tell me they sound like crap !

In all seriousness, I love my SF too much and the wide baffle design of the Elipsa fits my room perfectly. Speakers like the Harbeth would not sound good in my room as they would be too close to the walls.

You made a good point Georges that the best speakers in one category or price point might not be the best speakers for your particular room. Btw i'm also finding the relatively wide baffle S5's work very well in my room where they've got plenty of room to breath on the sides.

GOOSEBUMPS like I did not have for a very long time.
What a pleasure to understand each and every word of the lyrics of the songs. English is a foreign language for me.

Joni Mitchell : A case of You :
" you're in my blood like holy wine. You taste so bitter and you taste so sweet. I could drink a case of you and still be on my feet...."
GOOSE BUMPS !!!!!
And I can take this description to describe my love and passion for the Harbeth sound.
The Wilsons are for sale already on 2 french sites. They are miles away from these emotions.
I won't be able to listen to them again.
Probably just for a demo to a buyer !

Jerome,

How do the 40.1's compare to the EB1i's?

I have only be able to find a few references comparing the two.

Since PMC is losing favor here in the states with me and my dealers I've been looking at Harbeth and even Tannoy for a dedicated 2 CH setup.

Thanks,
Rob

Rob,

The M40.1 are in an other league compared to the EB1i. They are very surprising because they both have much more weight and they are at the same time much faster than the EB1i. The mids of the Harbeths are also much more natural and lifelike. I never thought I would write that one day but it is exactly that.

Thanks, I am happy for you.

I was thinking a pair of the M40.1's with my MC2301's.
