We are not in presence of "2 flavors" between the 40.1 and the Watt Puppy 8. The Harbeths are head and shoulders above the WP8's. including for pace, dynamics and bass. Their performance is more to be compared with the Alexia's or the Magico S5.
But for voices, they are the very best speakers I ever heard, no matter the price range.
I am putting the Wilson's on sale today.
Jerome...... Well I'm not surprised on your decision....Again What did I say yesterday ? Ha !!

Sell the W/P8 and get your self a SHL5 ?

Paul,

I really have no place for the SHL5 in my home.
I like a lot the Rega RS10's and the DeVore Super 8's in my second and third systems.
They are living areas. My wife won't accept SHL5 looks in any of them....

Wow I never thought you'd sell them. That's quite a statement for the Harbeth.

Would this be the moment to mention just how perfect a match Harbeths are with a pair of Snappers Georges ?

Can you post a link? Sounds like these feet are a winner vs the Stillpoints Ultra 5's with Ultra bases.

Jerome, may I ask if you heard the S5's with Vitus Signature or Masterpiece Series amps before reaching that conclusion? That combination has provided the best and most intimate jazz and vocals i've ever heard with the possible exception of the 7 feet Infinity IRS-V's. The S5's smaller sibling (S3) also won Jonathan Valin's Best of Show at CES for TAS.

I couldn't find them on the pro audio bono website yet, but I did find this page which has a couple of shots of them (along with a shot of what looks a lot like your TT platform Jerome, a beautiful item imho! )

Thanks for posting the link. Just when you thought you'd found the best, along comes a new "best"

David,

I have heard the S5 with Constellation amps.
Voices were very good but not at the level of the Harbeths to my ears. Personal preference. Nothing absolute in this hobby.
