P.S. I also recently caught wind of the LessLoss firewall power conditioner and I have heard really good things about it. Anyone have any experience with this piece?
Sonic... This thread is about the Torus vs Furman; you will be able to start your own thread after you reach 10 posts, thanks.

They are both great units; I just got Dixon here a Furman IT20 which he is very happy with.

I happen to like the Bryston BIT series better for a few reasons.

1-Sounds more detailed w/ better bottom end IMO
2-Looks better; sleeker and cleaner in design IMO
3-Costs about $800 less, which was not that important to me

Ivan set me up with the Furman IT Ref 20i (replacing my Elite-20PFi) and it is a fantastic improvement. I cannot render opinions of the other very fine products, however, I suggest paying attention to your choice of PCs and having a dedicated 20amp circuit, too, if possible. All these considerations together, IMHO, will substantially improve the audio performance and the enjoyment you will experience.

I've used both a Torus RM-15 & 20...currently using the 20. I don't have anything to compare it to, but I'm very happy with it. You do need a forklift to move it, though!

I should add that the Torus is on my source components and pre-amp...amps are straight into dedicated 20A wall circuits.

I have a Torus Rm 20 RK. Was $2,500 with discount. Used in system of 3.7 maggies driven with Parasound JC-1's (broken in for 2160 hours continuously), JC2, JC3. No limit on power. Clears up voices and everything else. Can't see $9,500 for a Silver Circle TR 6, when I can add more stillpoint Ultra 5's. The Torus weight 95 pounds to ?80 for TR 6. its transformer is bigger so will let more power through. Trans formers both from Plitron i think. A major improvement.

It's all dependent on where you live. I owned the latest Torus, Shunyata, Audience and find the PS Jaco to sound better in my system. Try them all and keep the one you like better...

Any more current impressions on these products? Looking at them and comparing to the Audioquest Niagara now that Garth Powell left Furman and went to Audioquest.

The REF20i has power factor correction which provides instantaneous current. This is accomplished by the use of a very large AC capacitor, it releases its stored energy when needed. Also it is a balanced design which cancels common mode noise.
