Default Ulric subwoofer

Anyone see or demo this beast or at CES?

January 2012 - - Christopher Mayer's Ulric subwoofer [$14.999] under the Lycan Audio brand has all the makings to answer the above with a yes. Check out the specs. 24 x 38 x 34.5" sealed enclosure weighing 712lb/322kg. 18-inch 90lb woofer with anodized aluminum diaphragm, pure stainless steel voice coil, Titanium former, 11" spider, 3.2" peak-to-peak excursion and 7.400w of peak current handling. Anechoic response +/-1dB 17Hz - 150Hz, -3dB @ 14Hz, -10dB @ 9Hz. Max anechoic SPL 121.3dB. 90.1dB sensitivity at 60Hz. The enclosure starts out as an 850lb slab of 36-sheet Baltic Birch whose internals get routed out into a broken-wall oval to end up with side walls ranging from 4.5 to 10.5 inches thick. The front baffle is massive aluminum. Amplification is via modified ICEpower™.

I actually own a pair of these subs to use with my magico v3's, i replaced my gothams with these and it was a night and day improvement. Lets just say -2db at 10hz, unlimited output, no cabinet behavior and i can actually use my subs with my speakers with music and not lose any resolution.

Welcome Thomas

Yep they sure look massive, i was looking for reviews comparing to the gothams which are very very nice as well.

Did you sell the gothams ?

Do you have any pics of your system would be great to see the subs in a better pic than the one on the web.

Not surprised tht the woofer is awesome - lots of mass, a large driver, and no eq in a proper sized enclosure. Whenever you get a woofer that will willingly go deep in its enclosure, it always has a huge advantage over a system that needs eq.

I think the maker of the driver is TC. I have a 15" in a custom sub I built that weighs only 350 lbs.

The other sub has JL drivers.

Sorry about the wait, the wife and I just came back from vacation. If you like i can kind of post a review with pictures of my system with the sub's and of my buddies who got me turned on to these subs. He replaced some paradigm sub2's with two Ulric's for his martin logan CLX's.
