Effective power output from 20-20kHz is now just 300wpc vs 1.2kwpc ... hmmm ...

With those speakers, 300 for the front panel and 600 for the woofers is enough to chase you out of the room. My 1.25s generally register between 1.2 and 12. 120 is fun but hard to do for an extended period of time (I did manage to make the red light flash once, but may have done permanent damage to my ears). Considering this change myself, but not sure it will sound any better than the 1.25s. Looking forward to hearing listening impressions.

The combined effect of effectively bi-amping with two speaker cable runs could / should increase the difference - while the power level might be ok for most, i do like the 1200 watts i have on tap with my 1.2KW’s! feeding hungry 800D3’s....

300 per ch tube watts are the equal of a 1.25 and even more. This is a monster and extremely beautiful amp perfect for any bi amp speaker. I don't see a problem with the depth since you are essentially getting the equivalent of 4 huge mono amps. This is coolest new amp I have seen since I can't remember when.

To put it’s power output in perspective, each 901 draws 12 amps at WOT; wide open throttle.

Same power requirement as the 1.25, 257, 255, 8207 and even 611 + 2301. 12 amps on 120 V

So, this means I could run a pair of these on my regular everyday 15A circuits and still have 3 amps to spare?

Throw in a couple of tape decks, a turntable or two a preamp, CD/SACD, music server and..., better go with a couple of 20A's just to be safe.
