Thanks Ivan. For the most part I find McIntosh gear to be pretty reasonably priced.

(Can’t believe I just said that)

See it now. Can u or anyone briefly explain the difference between the MCT450 and 500? Is it just that the 500 is more versatile? Is there a sonic difference? Also, the difference between the MR88 and MR87? Why was the MR88 dropped? Thank you.

There's a thread here about the tuners, but basically the MR88 was discontinued due to lack of the HD tuner chip AFAIK.

Can you direct me to it? Also, is there a thread somewhere about transports, i.e. what is difference between the MCT 450 and 500? Is "AFAIK" about A to D conversion? I was unaware until recently that the MR87 had a digital output. Thank you so much.

The MCD500 is a SACD/CD player that has an internal ESS Sabre Reference 8-channel D/A converter. The MCT450 is a SACD/CD transport only (no internal D/A converter).

Hi DB,
You need to be a subscriber to access the part of the forum where this kind of info is posted. You also get access to the marketplace and monthly giveaways - well worth the price of admission!
