Default tuberolling the REF5SE

hi guys

tubes are not very accessible in my country so i was thinking of buying some spare tubes for my REF5se. Although i know these stock tubes are quite rugged and durable, but its best to have some spares.

For my ref75- i bought two pieces KT120 tungsol as spares.

For my REF5se im thinking at the Winged C Svetlana 6550 as spares, right now the stock REF5se has sovteks.

For the 6h30, the stockers are sovtek, i plan to try out 5 pieces of the Electroharmonix Gold pins.

Have you guys had experiences w/ the mentioned tube above ?

thanks again.

Fwiw, Kevin Deal told me the 6550C has been problematic in the 5SE, RP2SE and the 10s, and recommends sticking with the stock 6550WE. The 6H30s all come from the same factory.

Kevin has told me the same, but this refers to late production where quality control issues have shown up; "soft vacuum". Older SED6550 winged C's, now considered NOS with prices to match, apparently are still most desirable.

Due to the lack of current production high quality 6550's I expect a KT88 as a possible replacement to rival the KT150/ KT120 debate.

I switched out the stock 6H30 tubes for EH Gold pins (Cyro'd), and felt it was a definite step up in my LS16MkII. IMHO

Jim

Here you go...for me the SQ gained is an upgrade from stock. I was quite surprised to hear such a difference in tube rolling. Have fun~

I had it for a day now and the difference is immediate. I didn't expect for it to turn out so well especially a new tube.

Instead of me having to repeat I found this comprehensive report - https://www.google.com.sg/url?sa=t&r...7bCslqtRKmOuJg
