Not really. On the typical modern ARC preamp, the main control is the volume, and the secondary control is the input. For many of the preamps you can only adjust balance with the remote.

Right now I have it paired with my Accuphase A70 and it has better synergy than the C2850 I had (which actually shocked me).
Think I’ll keep the A70 and wait for ARC to release the Ref80 power amp.

I’m using my Ref6 with PS Audio’s DirectStream DAC. With the new Snowmass OS, what tone controls?

Well of course the volume and inputs are givens. I meant other than these but your point is well taken.

Ref 6 would go great with those new tube amps on the way.

I auditioned both and deciding on the Ref 6 was very easy in my case.

Had McIntosh preamps in the past. ARC is a different league.
