Bertrand, I looked through transparentcable's website but there wasn't any mention of MM2 for the Ultra speaker cables... did I miss something here?

Noak, all new cables include the MM2 technology. Though, the MM1 technology can frequently be found with Transparent cables sold on the second-hand market and sometimes with old demo cables at dealers.

You can check up the MM2 technology by reading the serial number under the cable's network, which is supposed to look like “xxxxxMM2xxxxx”.

Noak, listen to Bertrand. Transparents model line-up and history of change from XL to MM1 to MM2 can be confusing at first. If you are buying from a Authorized Dealer it will not be an issue. If you are buying from A-gon just be careful you are getting what you want. I will look for a post I made trying to show how confusing it can get and add it here for you.

Preamp: Robert Koda K10 Amp: Ayre MX-R
Cables: Transparent Reference MM - MM2 version interconnect & spkr (Opus MM2 Phono to Pre)

I was using Reference MM2 all around. So far I have only swapped out the speaker cable. My mistake was trying out the Opus. I am still considering moving my gear to another room and until I decide I don't know what length I will need. My opinion is the speaker and power cords have much more impact than the IC's.

Seems like the same experience I had going from Ref xl mm2 to Opus MM2 on just one interconnect...total mistake..ruined me

Bertrand, thanks for the helpful information. I will take notice of the serial number under the network box.

Agreed. I would prefer to buy from AD too.

I am borrowing TA Ref XL speaker cables while my TA Ref are being "tuned" for my amp. These are set up for tube amps already. As soon as I hit play I realized how hard it will be to let these go back. And I'm a previous non believer in cables. Ugh!

I hope mine sound close to this when I get them back. This is terrible! How does TA do this?

oh boy, you are in trouble Marc!
I borrowed Ref XL interconnects and speaker cables last summer
My baseline was Ultra
I ended up buying 2 pairs of balanced interconnects, Ref XL
I remain at Ultra level speaker cables but I want Ref XL in a bad way
i had the Ref XL for 2 solid months, it was painful to give them back!!!!!!

Good luck

actually, I'm hoping you report back that stepping back to Ref level wasn't so painful (give or take 5k vs 10k on top of Ultra trade back)

I tried some TA REF ICs/SCs which were tuned for my ARC/WA combo and found nothing to justify their high price.

I was very happy to reinstall my Nanotec Systems cables.
