Fun times ahead.

Have you had a chance to compare the DAC of the 205 versus others? Just curious.

I have the 105 and I am considering the 205 unit. I wonder how the DAC in the 205 compares to the 105 and other DACs.

Yesterday I used Roon/Tidal to compare the DAC in the 105 and that in my digital preamp (Bryston SP3). I fed both the same signal (Roon/Tidal via Raspberry-HifiBerry endpoint). The 105 sounded better.

I'm still letting the 205 burn in for awhile. I should start doing a comparison with my the DAC in my c2500 by on the weekend.

Decided to go ahead and ordered the 205. Every review I read claims that the analog sound of the 205 is better than the 105. And since I like the sound of the 105 decided to proceed.

Don't forget to spin some SACDs through the OPPO if you have any. Sounds pretty damn good.

Hi Serge....I do have a good amount of SACD's and yes so far they sound damn good. I can only imagine how much better they will sound when fully broken in.

I've found that leaving the Oppo on instead of turning it off yields a much better sound when the internal DAC is thermally stabilized. The OPPO was too eager to turn itself off when not in use. I changed the setting.

Same. I leave my 203 on 24/7 with pure audio mode engaged.

Thank you!

Here is an update:
I received the 205 last Friday. I spent some time this weekend listening to the 2-ch analog output of the 205 and compared it to that of the Oppo 105D. Using recordings that I know well, I felt that the 205 presented a more coherent and wider presentation of the music.

I have not listened to multi-channel analog yet but I suspect that the result will be similar.

I am aware that the 205 allows you to choose a variety of filters for the audio DAC. I have not experimented with the filters yet.

The Oppo 205 is a Roon Endpoint. Roon will let you send upsampled/converted signals to the 205 (up to 192 mhz, I believe). I have not experimented with that either.

Bottom line: The Oppo 205 is a keeper.
