I'm game to try them, wouldn't there come a point where the Maggie's mine anyway , just can't handle that much power? You say they are great for your 20's but we are talking a lot larger panels. Here is what I'm going to do, I will upgrade to the 3.7's , replace my TT with a project evolution or clearaudio performance dc, decide on a better cartridge or keep the dynavector, then I can audition several amps , my audio store that I have been dealing with for 20 years would give me amps to test in home at any time,, the benefits of a great relationship with people that have been in the same store since the beginning of time.

Congratulations Stonecobbler, the 3.7s are just a genuinely great speaker and all the other upgrades that you do from sources to amps and cables will really shine through them. Looking forward to you getting them in your room and just getting lost in the music.

I'm sitting here listening to some phenomenal jazz after a long day and I'm not thinking about any other speaker than the one I have... Maggies are awesome... Just my 2 cents. Enjoy!

Graham

I have listened to the 3.7's with my amp and was mostly pleased with the sound, I would have no regrets as I know it would only get better and better as I upgrade around them, I'm hooked on Maggie's and have been since my first pair of mmg's in the early 90's, I think sometimes you need to have a box speaker handy to listen to so you can understand and appreciate when you re hook up the Maggie's .

Glad to see you have come to a firm decision on the 3.7's. For what it's worth, the Thiel 3.7 is the best speaker Thiel ever made, IMO. Relatively easy to drive, not ruthlessly revealing, and as good the CS5i in virtually every respect.

Oh I forgot you were talking about the Thiel 3.7's not the magnepan 3.7's. I was referring to the Maggie's. sorry about that.

I'm talking about the Maggie's, I think I need to stay with the sound I love , and that's the panel sound

It's not that, I think they just recently added a Maggie forum, they used to be a combined forum
