Tony a four game sweep is only 'great' to those rooting for the 'sweeper' !

Were you old enough to remember 1960 ? if so you'll understand why I stated what I did, granted my bias was because of game 7 !

You are correct of course, I was raised a Red Sox fan so am a bit biased, but I think a sweep can qualify as a great series, the performance the Red Sox put on in that series was nothing short of remarkable. However I must confess to being not quite old enough for the '60 series, I was only 7 at the time and once the Sox were out of the running, anything involving the Yankees didn't get much play in our area.

then you and I are the same age, '60 was the first series that forever remains in my memory. Growing up in Buffalo I was both a Yankees and Pirates fan so i was 'torn' between the two.

While many, or most, consider Bobby Thompson's home run the greatest of all time (two primary reasons ......Dodgers vs Giants and the ball was never found) but to me it was clearly Maz's home run in the '60 World Series .......bottom of the ninth, game seven, a walk off to win the series. The one and only time. I was a kid in second grade with a seven transistor radio and ear piece....... World Series day game ........as God intended !

I'm a Yankee fan, but have great respect for Terry Francona. Would have liked to see him win, though I certainly would not route from the Sox. The Cubs were excellent, and certainly deserved it. This, despite the over managing by Madden.

Go, cubbies. I used to live in Chicago so I was exposed to this long suffering team for a few years. Amazing game. Amazing series.
