Bahco Tools
I recently bought a bunch of Bahco Tools. They are made in Spain, and I read somewhere owned by Snap-on.
I am quite impressed with their quality and ergonomics.

I use their Linesman Pliers. I believe they are a real step up from the industry standard (Klein Tools) Linesman Pliers.

Bahco was a Swedish company and I own several of there adjustable wrenches including a very nice 10" one that I picked up in my early twenty's during a motorcycle trip to Europe. It has a patent date of 1892 on it proudly stating it was the originator of the adjustable wrench. Seems Cresent copied the design just making the knurled screw in the opposite hand. So my 10" adjustable operates backwards from any USA made adjustable wrench.
I carry it in my service kit and have used it daily for over 35 years, the black oxide finish has long since worn off. I always get a kick out of handing it to a customers maintenance mechanic when he needs a wrench. After much fumbling he usually gets his own tools. I don't know about today but there old stuff was of the highest quality. BillWojo |

"Seems Cresent copied the design..."
Dunno, but patents don't last forever. " The 1857 patent #17,531 by Edward J. Worcester describes the basic design of a movable jaw sliding in a slot below a fixed jaw, and all modern designs clearly owe a debt to this early patent. The Swedish company BAHCO also claims to have invented the modern style of adjustable wrench, and the BAHCO design may have served as the inspiration for Crescent's design." "According to Crescent company folklore, Karl Peterson received a visitor from Sweden who described an interesting adjustable wrench he had seen in Sweden. Peterson was intrigued and immediately set to work on carving a wooden model based on the visitor's description, and then Peterson and the other Crescent engineers tried to figure out how the wrench could be produced efficiently. Cutting the slot for the sliding jaw proved to be the most difficult operation, and for this task Crescent created a special slotting machine." Source: http://alloy-artifacts.org/crescent-tool.html
