I had a dedicated room installed in my basement. The room is directly below our family room so isolation was important. To accomplish that, I had Whisper Clips and light gauge steel channel installed to hang the 1/2" Sheetrock on. If I had the room, I would have added Green Glue and a second layer of Sheetrock to add more damping and mass. I also had every outlet covered with damping chalk. My room is 13.5' X 19.8' x 7.8'. JUST big enough for my current system. It was not big enough when I had my IRS Betas in the room. So, go as big as you can...
I also had a solid Mahogany door in an exterior frame that installed. Only when I am cranking do the lowest frequencies show upstairs. +1 on 20 AMP dedicated lines, cheap to do in a fresh basement! And I like the idea of putting them on two walls. Good luck!
