That's most people's reaction and only wish more could or would take the time to give tape a listen. Many a time any resemblance between the commercial LP or CD and tape is purely coincidental. One good example is The Band's Stage Fright LP vs the TTP's release where the album is horribly EQ'd (and an early pressing at that!). In other cases, the tape just has more of everything and at its best on say a 15ips Roy DuNann Contemporary jazz recording, the musicians are literally in your room!

Myles...Thanks for posting these video links. Most interesting & informative.

I'm basically ready to go (for playback), but I guess I need to be spoon fed some 1st gen software to help get me going... It's lonely here in Melbourne...

Once I get motivated, I would also like to do some of my own archival recordings from vinyl using my own signal paths. Vinyl reissue-->GoldFinger Statement-->C1000T (TFK ECC803S)-->Studer A810 (Tranfoless) 15iPS.

Thanks Myles. The sound is much better than the YouTube video. I hope to see more talks about tape, and then some that are more advanced.
