I have a couple of Velodyne's my self (although a different model) and are happy with the sound in comparison with the small foot print. My friend has the large Sunfire and is equally happy. In your case, as you already had what you consider the full sub experience , I would go with either one of them. You will never get close to what you had before in any case. So just pick one, be happy with it and enjoy the new set up.

Thanks, yeah the point of the question wasn't what would be the ultimate sub but which of these value subs I listed would offer the best thump for the money. I won't be playing these with any music whatsoever. I appreciate your response as your the only one who tried to answer the actual question. May I ask which velodyne you own?

I don't know the models offhand, but I'm using both a Definitive Technology and a Velodyne. Even though they're older, they do a descent job with thump in their respective surround sound systems.

Sunfire HRS, XTEQ
Definitive Technology supercube
Velodyne Minivee
SVS SB-2000

These top three brands would be who I can buy from and they are pretty much the main companies making small package subs. The SVS does have a low enough cost at $629 B-stock and no measurements over 16". Oh and No measurement can go over 16" will work . I wasn't planning to replace the SVS with anything but figured I could throw something relatively inexpensive in and get most the bass I had since I am only in a little 10x10.
from this list, SVS SB-2000 is the best choice

Thanks, have you ever compared/heard them? I wonder how far up the lines of the other companies (def tech, sunfire) the 2000 would climb before being beaten. I also looked into HSU a little but none of their subs meet the space requirements I am after.

As you can see in my signature, I have dual Velodyne DD10. What I like about them is the umf you get from "just" a 10 inch woofer and the awesome 6 band parametric eq. That thing helps a lot in getting the best out of the boxes.
