I guess its time to get into Blue-ray
Blue-ray has been around for a while now so I think it has caught on (still waiting for DVD audio to come back). I have two questions at least as a start. What blue-ray player is recommended by our folks in the know here and can you use that player to connect the HDMI cable from the cable box through the player to improve video performance. I will using a Sony 65" Bravia LCD as a display Up until now I have been only watching DVDs

If you do not need audiophile analog music output from your Blueray player then get the Oppo 103D, and save $500. The video portion is the same between the 103 and 105. The analog output is the difference between the two players.

Another benefit of the Oppo is it has two HDMI outputs. The HDMI video went out on my pre-amp (Onkyo SC5509), but I am still able to watch movies. I connected the HDMI for the monitor to the Oppo, and ran the other Oppo port to the preamp for audio. Works great. Of course, I can't use my Xbox now, so eventually I need to get a new pre. Did someone say Bryston SP3?

Ed, Oppo 105d here also. This player does everything in my HT system. I do have my cable box connected to the HDMI input. 5.1 sound plays through Netflix with it also, instead of just stereo for their newer programing.
