I try to be both pragmatic and practical. My room won't stand more that a 55" television. My XBR has a HDR (High Dynamic Range) setting from 2012. I've always known that resolution alone does not make a television. You have to factor in whether the television can display true blacks rather than dark grey, how accurate the colors are, color gamut, etc.; not just resolution. Many of these new technologies are just marketing. I don't succumb to marketing for self preservation sake; my wallet. Even now, I cannot convince myself to buy into Atmos when I don't hear object based in real life. Back to 4K, its nice, but unless I had room for a much larger screen, I don't have a compelling reason to want it. I might get an OLED television one day as soon as the burn in problem and other issues are resolved. Right now, I am just enjoying my software, and I thoroughly enjoy my SP-3, and other Bryston products. I am now awaiting the return of my Bryston digital player, the BDP-2 that I upgraded to the BDP-3.
