Aww shucks.... Thanks for the welcome.
Just bought Sophia 3's and they still sit in crates in my garage for over a month now- we have our home up for sale and they would dominate the main room in the house, and would just have to be recrated to move soon anyway. Very difficult walking by them every day...

So, here's a question for the group (or better, looking for guidance). Am about 3 weeks away from uncrating new Sophia 3's and was wondering about blending/adding my Martin Logan Descent i sub with the Sophias.
Any thoughts, advice? Good idea or not?

I don't have any knowledge or experience with the ML Descent sub, but I have used a pair of REL B2 subwoofers along with my Sophia 3 speakers. The RELs blend in with Sophia very well. Whether or not you need the Descent only time will tell as you get accustomed to your new room and speakers. My room is small and I have bass loss or cancellation issues which I can partially alleviate with strategic placement of the subs. Nevertheless, from time to time I remove the subs from system. Sophia 3 is a very capable speaker and is known for its dynamics. You very well may be selling your sub. IMO, nearly any speaker/stereo system will benefit from having a sub (or two)

My 2 cents of a former SOPHIA (serie 1) owner.

For music I don't believe the need of a sub will be cried for.
For movies, if deep bass impact is prefered then a subwoofer will still be useful. Moreover it protects the main speakers' woofers from the sometimes abnormal bass energy found in soundtracks. And main amp have less work to do as well.

I was very happy with the bass from my Sophia 2's in two channel and only used my subs for HT. But of course the "what if it's better?" itch got to me and I bought an active cross-over and set up stereo subs. It is definitely much better - broader soundstage, quieter midrange and better treble response. So, do you need subs? No. Should you want subs (and an active cross-over)? Yes.
