I have read through this thread several times, looking for any reason to ever consider Kalamazoo as a grill choice and haven't found a single thing that would point me in that direction.

Tell me, masanori, what is it about the Kalamazoo that picqued your interest sufficiently that you would spend the outdoor cooking equivalent to a new Toyota Camry on this grill?

The grill does look good, granted, but it seems to me that the manufacturer has led you on a wild goose chase since the first day of late delivery.

I liked the Kalamazoo grill because it is handmade I can cook with charcoal ,wood, gas. The price was the only turn off . Kalamazoo customer service is excellent. The cooking grate are also custom . As far as craftsmanship goes it is a beauty. As far as the function of the grill it is well under par. I hope when the new grill gets here it will work as advertised

I took a look at their website and how the grill is designed. This is just my opinion but I think the design is all wrong. The charcoal grate is far too close to
the cooking grate. Charcoal is always hotter than gas and with no way to adjust the distance between the grate and the charcoal, the only way to control the temp of the charcoal is by varying the amount of charcoal you use.
The gas burners are too far away from the grate to provide the heat you need for grilling. This could be why you are not getting enough heat to properly grill your food. They promote this design as being better but I disagree.
Hope it works out for you.

Take a look at my earlier post, #44 (10/14/2013) where I said not to tell the fire marshal, but to drill out your orifices to a larger size!

Breaking the rules is a good thing!

I always do that on my grills!

By using an "oversized" orifice, you allow the orifice to control the maximum gas flow and the valve to control the low gas flow.

I'm very happy to hear you have had success after this lengthy period of trials and tribulations.
