John Lennon
I don't usually do this. But, 37 years ago we lost him. It was one of the saddest days in my life. There were so many hopes and dreams crushed that night. I am sure many have a 'where were you' when you heard John Lennon was shot.
I was in college. Coming back to my room late studying for an organic chemistry final. My phone rang and a girl I knew called me upset telling me John was killed. I couldn't believe it. We sat on the phone for a bit just repeating 'I can't believe it...are they sure?' A guy we referred to as 'rock n roll johnny' was sitting in the hallway of the dorm crying. One of those times when there are no answers. Things like this didn't happen in 1980. Thirty seven years later I still feel it. |

Sad day indeed. A terrible loss. I was in Paramus New Jersey bowling when I heard the news. I just couldn’t believe it. Thought it was a joke. Sadly it wasn’t.
Listening to John now and for the rest of the night. RIP John.

I had just gotten into hifi.
It was my start to discover all the Beatles records. Thank you for this thread!

I was in Lodi, the next morning I sent a guy from work over to Sam Goodies at the Garden State Plaza to pick up a few copies of his new release, Double Fantasy.

Most senseless murder in my life, and there have been so many. I listen to his music and wonder what might have been. So relevant today, just give me some truth, Please?

Love ❤️ his music too, and always think of the contributions we have missed all these years.
I am glad that we at least have the chance to play his records all over again if we wish. |

John Lennon
When my wife and I flew to Rekyavik Iceland last August, Yoko Ono was sitting two rows behind us. She had 2 stewards looking after her as she had to go to the restroom 3 times during our flight from JFK. (I told my wife she liked me as she smiled at me each time!)
Our driver told us she comes every year and has lots of friends in Iceland. She built the ‘Peace Tower’ there. It is a huge light that sends a peace symbol into space. She goes to Iceland every year in October to light it on John’s birthday and then in December on the anniversary of his death, to turn it off. Very cool!
