I also dropped in chili powder, cayenne, paprika, tumeric and cumin. Overall, the dish didn't have the body I was hoping for; perhaps it needed a bit of sugar or a little more heat.

I have to keep in mind that things don't taste the same lately, and as this was my first try with a meal like this, judgements may need "a grain of salt."
If it has "progressed" to a mild cold, that's something. Hang in.

I echo that, but I'm confused right now. I would say that how I feel and how I am may be two different things.

If you ask how I feel, I'd say pretty good overall. The feeling of a mild cold, that's about it.

But checking the list of common symptoms of COVID-19 in humans (from Johns Hopkins), they list eight and I have five: cough (though only on occasion at this point), loss of taste (almost nothing has tasted right), diarrhea, fatigue (not debilitating but enough to be aware of), and shortness of breath (not on the emergency level; I breathe fine, but I get winded very quickly). I wonder if the symptoms are just taking their time to go away, or is the virus still kicking? Except for the coughing and diarrhea, none of these issues emerged until I got home and attempted to resume normal activity.

Really hoping this 4/15 appointment is enlightening.

It sounds based on your description that the virus is still doing its thing on you. A friend of mine has been in an ICU unit for 11 days now. But it is good that your shortness of breath in under control. Good luck to you!

Well, the buns are all out of stock with an expected 4-week lead time(!!). In all likelihood I could suit up, head over to Stop and Shop, get my buns and be home in less than a half-hour. There's a lesson here somewhere, I'm sure.

An entirely different topic is that Amazon is amazingly important in this time, which deserves its own deep think, among many other things this should prompt us to think about.

Hope your trend line continues to improve. I shopped for three families this morning and would gladly do so for you (although I did get several looks for my bulging cart in the waiting line (spaced of course) at the liquor store.

Just don't drink it all at once. Too dangerous.

The diarrhea got worse after I got home. But I assume that's because I've been eating more since getting home. I hardly ate at all while in the hospital. BTW, if you're ever a patient at Brooklyn Hospital, don't try the oatmeal. Cardboard's just as good, probably. The ridiculous odyssey I went through last weekend trying to order from both Amazon and Target drove me nuts; Both Amazon and Whole Foods were out of everything I was looking for. But yes, despite complaints, Amazon and other home delivery services are especially important now. But I begin to wonder if people who order for mere convenience could make it tougher for those who order out of necessity, especially in a time like now.

For a complete change of pace, I've watched this four times and all four laughed so hard my cheeks hurt . . .

Update:

Monday I had a video chat with my PCP. It wasn't a scheduled appointment, it was the end of the day, and it was rather rushed, but his recommendation was that I could go outside, as long as I wore a mask, since my symptoms were mild in his view. He further said to monitor my temperature and, if I developed no fever, could return to work Monday.

That didn't sound quite right, as I didn't feel (physically) ready to go back to work. So I had a second video chat yesterday, with a different doctor; this was a longer conversation, and I was able to describe my symptoms in more detail. Her recommendations were the exact opposite of my PCP: I should stay home, rest, and drink plenty of fluids. There is some concern about my shortness of breath issues; I can breathe fine, but get winded very quickly and easily. As an example, last week I went downstairs to pick up a mail order package (about 16 pounds), and by the time I got it to the apartment I was completely winded, plus the heart was beating rather strongly. I live in a 2nd-floor walk-up. It took me a minute and a half or so to catch my breath. I have a follow-up with her on the 22nd.

So I am stuck in here for a while longer. I now have to wash out T-shirts at the sink, as I'm out of clean ones as of today; in another 2 weeks I'll have to do the same for underwear. I can't go to the laundromat, plus their new policy doesn't allow for people to wait in-store for their stuff to wash, so that means three trips back and forth, and three times up and down the stairs. Not desirable, given the circumstances.

I'd like to use the time to straighten up my place, maybe watch some of the Blu-rays I haven't gotten to (there are plenty), do some studying, keep concerned people updated, and spend some quiet time with God and self. I may not be going to work for a bit (the shop where I work is shut down; don't know for how long), and the current situation is an opportunity to be productive, even if I'm not working.

I think the second advice was the more intelligent one.

We send you good vibes!
