Mount Gay is my go to dark rum.

Works especially well in Boat Drinks. An old Keys guy like me likes boat drinks.

As promised...

From Verite in Sonoma - 7 100 point scores since 2001.

Yeah, we went though a lot there, including some stuff that is very new to the US and will change what we do here for a very long time...

E: Very nice! I haven't had it. How was it? Your fav. CA bordeaux blend? Worth the "nearly 1st growth" prices?

I am curious: What do you think of Ridge Monte Bello?

Yes, by far one of the best producers we have in California for reds. They are true 'iron fist meets velvet glove' wines. Sidenote: I'm a bit biased since our families are very close, but even then it is easy to promote Pierre's wines.

The "nearly 1st growth" prices still appear to be in line with what allocated cult Napa wines are at. Verite is also very close to achieving allocation-only status. Not that I agree with the pricing (makes it unaffordable for me, but at least I still have a stockpile from pre-Parker-craziness), but if the market will pay for it, might as well sell it at that level.

And, I know I've said this before in another thread (to the shock of some) - but I have never tried a Ridge MB I liked - ever. And yes, I've tried them at peak maturity and in youth. Not once was I impressed, and with the price tag associated with it, I can find wines that fit my palate more suitably for the same or cheaper.
