Yes. I'm deciding whether or not to use part of my commission check to buy the Scala v2's! But I'm definitely liking the 1038's in this room.

There are also a pair of Revel Salon 2's for sale here. That might be another option.

Yes. Definitely adding a Bryston 2ch or some monoblocks depending on what speakers I end up with.

A word of advice, if you have already wet the appetite on the likes of the Scala's or Salon's I suspect you would have buyers remorse if you went with the 1038's. It's hard to "settle" on something when deep down you really wanted something else.

I've never heard the Scala's myself but have heard the 1028's and 1038's up against the Alto's (Scala's predecessor) and the Alto's were in another league, just so much more refinement all around. So if the Scala's are at least as good as the Alto they would be great speakers.

Yes, these are all symptoms of the disease, knowing when desire outpaces the budget yet continuing on with the quest. I would be buying the Scala's on reputation alone. The Salon's I have heard and fell in love with years ago. I need to be thinking "last speakers I'll ever buy". You may be onto something.
