with the Q7 and Solution 711/725 combination (in this particular room) you are not listening to highs, lows and mids. Music that's what it is. (imho)

Although I understood it in theory and it is something that most folks in this forum already know, what has become very clear to me through direct experience in the last few months is how important removing noise (physical and electrical) and controlling room interactions, in addition to high quality components, is to achieving great sound.

All are necessary, but none sufficient, to achieving great sound.

And in my experience, in my room and with my system, I have found that at the high end, the difference in performance between different electronics is less than the effect of lowering system noise (isolation and clean power) and controlling room interactions (speaker placement and room treatments).

No, Alon is using different amps when voicing speakers. For sure, Soulution, Constellation, Vitus and VAC are among his favorite.

I visited the show in the morning, when it was already quite busy, in the afternoon Alon Wolf from Magico, Cyrill Hammer from Soulution en Kent from Mit-cables where at the shop also. The shop owner said the show went on to midnight.

Not sure I will ever buy equipment at this price level. But it was nice to hear what is possible with expensive equipment and a good acoustical room.

I wish McIntosh was on his list.

For what its worth, I have been told by two different Magico reps, on two different occasions, that Alon also uses Spectral when voicing his speakers. Ted.

During the show one of the visitors asked also about the D'Agostino mono amps / pre-amp also on display in the shop, the owner answered that they did not compare to the Soulution gear, saying that the 711 is able to provide much more current. (better control of the Q7)

Anyway, this was a good experience, excellent room, excellent equipment.
(but I believe close to half a million Euro !!)
Yes, I'm a Wilson guy, but if these speakers don't sound amazing with d'agostino, I'd be shocked and frankly upset (if I was an owner) . Come on, Dan makes amazing stuff, and it theoretically will make any speakers sing.

Hello Marc,

I am sure the D'agostino amps will make the Q7's sing, I only repeated a remark from the dealer who said he preferred the Soulution amp on the Q7. (and he has the D'agostino amps in his shop also)

Yes, the D'Agostino are very good amp and they would work well with the Q7. The Soulution would just be better (at a different price point...)
