Default Buffalo, NY ……… a nice place to be 'from' !

While Western NY will always be 'home', given the past 24 hrs reminds me and I'm sure Larry (Repman) as well, that Mother Nature always has the upper hand. friends of mine in the Lancaster / Alden area have had almost five feet of snow, some spots south of Bflo I hear have had up to 6 feet !!

This is a pretty good article about lake effect snow and why Buffalo get hammered on a regular basis.

I don't need to read it. I went to graduate school at SUNY Brockport near Rochester. I also drove through Buffalo a couple of times in the winter.

BRRRRRRRRR I remember digging my car out and then having to open the hood and dig the engine out. It was totally packed with windblown snow.

What I find most remarkable about the lake effect snow is the focused area it falls in. My daughter lives just outside Rochester and has only flurries to a dusting this week. About 60 miles away from 6'

I know it well Jim, having survived three of the biggest snow events in Great Lakes history……….1st weekend in Feb, 1966, three day storm dropped 110" in Fulton , NY. The infamous Blizzard of '77, stuck in a cabin down in Allegheny State Park and the Granddaddy of them all, early Jan 1997 up on Tug Hill, Montague , NY, 6 1/2 feet in 24 hours.

While I still love snowmobiling, these weary old bones do look forward to Fla coming March !

Dave, this is Dan Carpenter ( Bills Kicker) near his home he was digging out some elderly neighbors.

Buffalo is a great city and I loved living there , people are genuine and kind.

Dave , looks like the Bills may need to move the venue 4 ft of snow in the stadium and 2-3 ft more snow expected by Thursday night.
