Here is my list of modifications:

1. Tossed the original MDF Frames and replaced them with Maple Hardwood.

2. Removed the passive crossovers.

3. Actively tri-amped them with lots of juice, aprox. 900 WRMS per speaker.

4. added dual Subwoofers (NHT W2) with a dedicated Sub crossover. (NHTX1)

5 built custom rigid stands to reduce vibration.

After these changes, they now have huge amounts of dynamic range and can handle any kind of music I throw at them. Kick a** never entered into Maggie speaker discussions, but these are amazing!! They still retain the lower level Maggie signature, although a lot fuller sounding. That still makes them Maggies in my mind, but they are now so much more. Your thoughts?

Regards,
Jim
Like it Jim! Here's my take on tri-amping (cabling patchwork???) plus a passive tweet/midrange XO which costs more than the speaker itself.

Those on the ARC forum know that Warren Gehl of ARC uses custom modified Tympanis' to voice the electronics.

Very nice choice of crossover components. Duelund CAST is king!

Are those SEAS woofers in your array?

I think SEAS but am not certain. There are 5 10" drivers per side. There weren't a lot of these sold and most were mated with ML CLSIIs. If you spot anything that can confirm SEAS and come up with a model number, please let me know. I can't find a lot of info on the Internet about Kinergetics.

There is useable frequency response on these to below 20Hz.

The Pass labs XO is much better and has very little sound artifacts that color the music compared with the Kinergetics SW-800C XO it replaced. I never see these used and am happy i bought them. They work very well with Maggies.

I haven't got around yet to connecting the Duelund caps ans inductor-based passive XO and need to get with it before the weather gets better. The system sounds amazing as it is.

Likely it was built to their specs, but here is a close relative: Seas Prestige A26RE4 (H1411) 10" Paper Cone: Madisound Speaker Store

I love it but I am always convinced that I don't have the x-over dialed in exactly where I want it. It sounds great and makes the sound stage much wider but I am interested what settings you have your X-2 set at? I know this depends on room size, personal tastes, etc. but I am really curious. Thanks. I have got the subs playing everything from around 60hz on down. Phase switch at 0 with the knob turned to 90. gain about a ten o'clock and the boundary settings at -6. This seems to work fairly well but I know it could use some tweaking...
Thanks!
Welcome to AA!
I run mine as do you however I run the MGIIIa's to 45Hz 18DB slope then have the W2's set up from 50HZ down. FWIW
Regards,
Jim

Finally got around to hooking up the pictured Duelund caps/inductors passive midrange/tweeter XO on the 3.6s. Also rewired the speaker with Neotech POCC wiring and added solid copper binding posts (woofer's driven direct - there's no outboard passive - and there's a sub added below 60 Hz all via an active Pass Labs XVR-1-3way). Wooaah. This baby's going to need some time breaking in. May need to rewire the tweeter as it's sounding a little recessed.
