Here’s my current systems:

Living room: Oppo BDP-95, Dual 1249 with Stanton 681EE, Snell Type CV speakers, a pair of McIntosh MC30s, Scott 296, McIntosh MX110 / McIntosh MC275, a pair of Pilot HF-56 mono receivers, an NAD pre-amp and Acurus A250 power-amp for movies, and a McIntosh 2155 driving JBL L830s in the kitchen / dining room. (That’s a 1938 Philco 38-690 sitting between the speakers.)

TV room: The source is an Oppo BDP-105. The speakers are Klipsch Palladium P-37Fs. The amps are Scott 399, Fisher 800B, Kenwood KR-9050, Pioneer SX-1980, Fisher X-1000, Scott 299C, McIntosh MC240, and an NAD C375BEE. The tube amps are for music. The solid state amps are for movies. At the bottom of the shelves, the patch panel allows me to connect the speakers to whichever amp I want, and two ganged Niles AXP-1 RCA selector switches connect the Oppo to the amp.

Office: Oppo DV-980H, JBL L880s, Fisher 500C, Scott 299B, Altec 353A.

Basement: Oppo DV-980H SACD/CD/DVD, Klipsch RF-7s, Scott 272, Inspire “Fire Bottle” SE Stereo Tube Amplifier HO, Scott 222C, McIntosh MX110Z, Fisher KX-200, Marantz 2325 solid state receiver, Pilot SA-260, Scott 210F (mono), Fisher TA 500 (mono), Scott LK150.

Bedroom: Fisher TA 500 (AM/FM mono receiver) driving a Klipsch WF-35. Source is an older CD player.

Robert.......Very eclectic collection of vintage gear among other things. I particularly like the old Scott tuner and the Fisher receiver and integrated amps in this photo. Thanks for letting us peek.

Robert, I'm drooling ! Thanks for sharing, love the old Philco, my grandfather had one very similar to yours, he would tell me of listening to FDR's 'fireside chats' on it. Sadly we did not keep it .....

Several years ago I downloaded recordings of a number of radio broadcasts that chronicle WWII. I interspersed these with popular songs from each year (starting in the late ‘30s and ending in 1945), and recorded a CD. For example, “Begin the Beguine”, and then recordings of radio broadcasts reporting the invasion of Poland, “PEnnsylvania 6-5000”, recordings of radio broadcasts reporting the attack on Pearl Harbor, “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” … etc … ending with Truman announcing Japan’s surrender, and then “Sentimental Journey”.) I can broadcast this via my AM transmitter, and listen via my ‘30’s era radios. The effect is that you’re listening to music, and then the program is interrupted with a news bulletin, another song, another news bulletin. etc. I’m not a history expert, so this was an interesting project for me. Here’s a website with many interesting WWII recordings: World War Two FDR’s speech to Congress on Dec 8, 1941 is fascinating.

At any rate, the old radios are interesting, and many are works of art. (I can’t take credit for restoring them.) I have all five of the Philco “High Fidelity” radios, 1936 – 38. The pic above shows my 1938 Philco 38-690. Here’s my 1937 Philco 37-690:

Plus I have some beautiful Zeniths, an E.H. Scott, and others. Here’s an unusual one – my Stewart Warner “Painted Lady”:

I have a radio or piece of hi-fi equipment from every decade from the 1920’s to present. The sound quality of consumer audio products jumped significantly in the 1950s (e.g., McIntosh MC30), but IMO nothing beats the beauty of some of the 1930s radios.

P.S. I haven't gotten through all of the posts of AA members' systems - but I'm working on it. There are some amazing systems posted here! AA is a great place to visit.
