Raccoons are not rodents; and I can tell you I have personally had a fair amount of trouble with them in So FL. I pay to have them professionally trapped and relocated to wildlife preserves far away from me.

Unfortunately, I think the raccoons are a problem of your own doing. It's not the food they are attracted to. They are attracted to Animal Planet playing in your Florida Home Theater Room. They love those Macs.

Last night I had a visitor in my listening room making a lot of noise.

I was forced to listen very carefully, locate the source, hunt him down and kill him with a can of RAID!

I hate crickets!

One time I had a bat flying in my listening room and then he landed on the stairway two feet from where I was working. That was a little upsetting. He must have left because I've never seen him again. Not too many insects for him to eat in here.

In the UK biggest animal we get in the garden are badgers and foxes. Both species are too scared of humans so don't cause any problems.

Real problems are the "presents" our 6 cats bring in. Anything from bats to rabbits. The small rodents (mice, voles etc) are the worst because the cat will play will drop the animal with the likely result that it will run behind the system and hide underneath the chaos of cables. Best avoid speakers with bass port near the ground which could provide ideal refuge for the escapee!

We've had moles brought in. Easy to catch but we make sure we release them some way away so they don't start tunnelling in the garden
