Indeed. This “little” X-Files episode packed 2 important concepts. The first being related to your original post. The second being the storage of private medical information in a facility clearly outside the original MTF (medical treatment facility). Fast forward to the present day and observe that medical information is readily stored within EMR (electronic medical record) systems that are allegedly secure and confidential. Interesting times ahead indeed.

By the way, don’t be surprised to find an RFID chip in your clothing, shoes or other articles. Manufacturers are using them for logistics, tracking, countering fakes, etc. Obviously if you buy it, chances are it is registered in a database. They can be read from 20 ft away. If battery powered, tracked by satellites.

I don't know why, but learning this makes me tired.

Serge, you realize that a RFID device is already available in the so-called “smartphone.” The number of smartphone users (myself included) is growing quite rapidly. To quote from the below article, “The number of mobile phone users in the world is expected to pass the five billion mark by 2019.”

Absolutely. The smartphone has become the ultimate data collection tool storing every little detail of you life. Who you talk to, what you said, where you go, how many steps you took to get there, your gps waypoints, what you do, what you buy, your finances, your health monitor and the list keeps on growing... The scary part is all that data is accessible...

Technically a democratic republic.

Default Popular DNA testing company admits to sharing data

Can’t help thinking what happens when you end up being contacted by a “Cousin Eddie” that came from someone your father or grandfather had relations with prior to your mother/grandmother?
