Tune Audio Anima

Hello folks,

Just a few words about a listening made today of the Greek speakers made by Tune Audio : the Anima.
This took place at 080 in Paris. The french importer of the brand.

Very high efficiency at 109 dB. 8 ohm. 3 way.
The bass driver is a paper 38 cm at the top of the speaker. It fires down directly through the whole vertical body and emerges on the floor. Hence the bass volume can be adjusted by the height of the speaker, adjusting the feet high. The body of this huge bass horn is made of birch plywood.
The mids are reproduced with a rather common wide band Fostex 13 cm loudspeaker, ( this Fostex is said to be highly modified by Tune Audio ) firing into a really beautiful horn again made in birch plywood.
The highs are reproduced by a compression driver and a small horn made of a special polymer material.

The electronics used were from the Cyprus brand Aries Cerat. I never saw such huge gear before.

We first listened to vinyl but the demo was pretty bad. I use the same Verdier TT than this dealer so it was easy for me to know that something was wrong. The phonostage was not the one he uses usually and he was testing carts on 2 arms so there was a mismatch somewhere : the sound on most recordings was clearly unbalanced.
Then we started to listen to the digital streaming source with again a huge Ariat Cerat Kassandra Ref 2 dac ( how come a dac even tube based can be so huge ??? ) and.... the magic appeared.
We were ( I was with a friend ) gratified with a sound extremely refined and clean. With just the right amount of live sense. Just one of the best sound I ever heard.
It was perfectly balanced. Never aggressive or projected. It stayed extremely "civilized" and classy, while keeping you excited about the next note coming. Supremely natural, uncolored, alive at the same time. Never boring.

Back home, I turned on my system and played the same files. Amazingly, I discovered that my Altec speakers based on the Shindo Petite Latour were not frustrating at all compared to the huge Tune Audio. I loved the Tune Audio a lot. But I love my Altec too. So I just saved 40k euros !

Anyway the Tune Audio Anima are wonderful speakers and if you have a chance to listen to them, no matter if you find them ugly or beautiful, you should grab it. They are really incredible.
