Will the SQ be improved if I rip them via BOT-1? The cost for a BOT-1 is rather high, the transport to the mac is low, so the BOT-1 should be a high quality CD transport. It will be very interesting if someone had compared it against any other high quality CD transport.

1. Will the SQ be better ripping via BOT-1?
2. How is the SQ when playing a CD (yes, I still do that) compared to another high quality CD transport or player?

HI Lasse

1. The sound quality can be affected by the software used to rip the CD so you may notice changes there.

2. The digital signal from the BOT 1 is stored in the buffer of the BDP and then played so the advantage there is the BDP is determining the quality of playback rather than the CD Player or BOT.

Hi James,

1. Yes, you have a point there so it can be hard to compare. I am using JRiver.
2. Ok, that sounds very good.

I also believe that it is much more easier and convenient to ripping via the BOT-1 connected to my BDP-2.

I think a will order one BOT-1

Just got my BOT! I can't imagine ripping to be any easier. Just insert the CD and select 'Backup" on the Bryston Web App. When done, it ejects for the next one.

I now have both units. After listening to many CD's with the BOT-1, it definitely sounds better compared to my old CD transport. Female vocals, bass, soundstage and depth of sound is much better then the CD transport. I highly recommend both of these units!
