Joe, since I have the Vivids in the house, my upgraditis has come to a (temporary ) standstill.
I'm impressed how good the Classic Line makes them sing.
The clearness and accurateness of the sound is amazing, and I'm speaking about pieces of music I used to test various systems that cost way more.
There might come a Top Line somewhere in the future, but there is absolutely no hurry anymore.

Bart,

I'd have to say the "Burmester sound" is one of the most impressive and satisfying. I'm glad you are really enjoying your system I believe it is wonderful and those speakers look way cool!

I was talking to a friend in Pennsylvania who I convinced to get a 911 mk3 and 035 preamp. He is head over heals happy. He even ordered an 061 cd player and should have it in about 3-4 weeks. It will even be signed by Dieter himself. Pretty cool. My friend said Burmester makes musical instruments not just audio gear.

Joe - looking forward to your impressions, the 099 looks like an extremely versatile front end and a gorgeous addition to a burmester rig!

I am assuming the volume control is analogue and implemented after the D/A conversion so that it works with the analogue inputs also? I wonder if it can be set to work as a digital control and/or if bypassing it takes the circuitry out of the chain completely?

Looks like it does, it's hard to read the schematic on my smart phone. It can be used as a preamp with dac, so that's how I'm going to hook it up first. That will give me a good idea how it will sound against what I am used to hearing.

I can't wait!
