I for one actually really like the album. I admit to being a huge Pink Floyd and Roger Waters in particular fan.

The more I listen to it the more I like it. This happens often for me though, the first couple listen I may not really enjoy an album but listening more I find I start to really like it.

+1 .

It is not an easy listen, and not intended to be, definitely not for everyone, but a work of genius in my humble opinion.

It's a miracle is one of my favourite songs, just brilliant.

I just went through the two sides of the first LP. I'll give LP2 a listen tonight and will give the whole kit and kaboodle a few more tries. Who knows maybe I was just in a foul mood yesterday ?

I've also always enjoyed Roger Water's Pro's and Con's of Hitchiking. The album is a continuous story broken up among the tracks and it is a great way to spend 45 min or so listening when the mood strikes.

The concept, as envisioned by Waters in 1977, rotated around a man's scattered thoughts during a road trip through California, focusing on his midlife crisis, and how he dreams of committing adultery with a hitchhiker he picks up along the way. Along the way he also faces other fears and paranoia, with all of these things taking place in real time in the early morning hours of 04:30:18 am to 05:12 am on an unspecified day.

Indeed. Thanks for reminding me. I have not listened to it in a long time. Now scheduled for my next session

I had the same unimpressed reaction. But I only listened to it once.

My guess is the SPARS code, which doesn't really matter- because it doesn't tell you anything about the quality, is DDD for Roger Waters' "Amused to Death" , especially when you consider the Qsound processing that puts sounds like the TV way off to the left or that dog growl to the lower right.

I have the orginal CD release and I am happy. I wonder if there is any difference to the version found on Tidal?

I originally heard the album on Tidal and bought the SACD and to be honest they sound pretty much the same. The Qsound effects are present in both. Musically I prefer The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking.

Suppose you can put me in the minority then. I really like this album and really enjoy it sonically and musically. The vinyl QRP pressing is amazing!
