my gracious transparent dealer offered to me the opportunity to try out Reference XL interconnect and pair of Reference XL speaker cables in my own system for next couple weeks. Both latest MM2 technology. I also took home two top of the hill MM2 power cords to play with. I haven't installed power cords yet. The Ref XL cables are breathtakingly good. A big jump up from my Ultra MM2 level cables (XL is 2 levels above Ultra in the transparent product line). These cables are spooky quiet. Details pop at a much lower volume than with my Ultra. Beautiful sounding cables. I'm only one album in to evaluation so far (Melody Gardot Absence 24/96) but color me impressed. Very impressed.

Those are excellent cables. I can understand why you would like them.

If you follow the Magico thread, you will know I am looking for new IC that is better than
my Ultra MM2. Ref XL was my choice long ago, but as I goes by, I have new idea comes up. I wanted Opus, but price is just not right, so I am glad to know that Ref XL is also
much much better than Ultra. By the way I am now trying MIT MA-X SHD. and they sound quite different than TR.

Have they found a new home nestled behind your equipment?

Toga,

How would you describe the difference between them.

Thanks...

Transparent sounds more musical, or actually sound more natural, unprocessed to me.
I don't want to pay for Opus anymore once I realize that I can do a lot of other upgrades
for the same money. But anyway I am glad that XL is much better than Ultra that I am
also use as IC right now.
I asked dealer about, for the same money, should I keep one Ultra and add one Opus to use with source, or replace both Ultra with two pairs of XL. Surprisingly, they recommend one Opus+Ultra. They said ,so that in the future I may add one more Opus and no more upgrading forever.
