Regarding the laccatura color cherry, has been be a matter of a limited edition that it has satisfied the market orients them. Us they have been also other personalizzazioni, like the cabinet in maple or cherry, that demands from the market come American, while Europe preprefers the clear woods or the classic walnut. We have decided to diversify to finishes and details of the products in order to go encounter to a more and more demanding market, and it gives satisfaction to be able to offer a service to us in more.

- We know that some product lines are most in demand in some markets, as with the toy in the Chinese market, so that was a version with a cherry-colored lacquer to meet the oriental taste. There are other players in other markets? And how important is the ability to adapt to the taste and mindset of the target market?
As for the cherry-colored lacquer, it was a limited edition that satisfied the Eastern market. There were also other customizations, such as maple or cherry cabinets, which are required by the U.S. market, while Europe prefers the classic light wood or walnut. We decided to diversify and finishing details of the products to meet an increasingly demanding market, and gives us satisfaction to offer an additional service.

Very good question.

I would have to say the "Fenice" is beautiful in a different way from a pair of Strad's.

By the way, in case anyone is in the market for SF speakers, looks like they have promotional pricing as shown here on Sumiko's web site: Sumiko Audio : Sonus faber special. The way I read this is these are new list prices until Jan 31 so maybe there is additional room to negotiate from here . Don't know if there is excess inventory in the channel but this makes sense in light of new product introductions in 2011 (3 new speakers), so clearing existing inventory to allow for strong launch of new products is logical.

I doubt it somewhat. Seems the new management are going for shock and awe whereas Franco was really an artist in every way. The Ktema looks great in real life and sounds even better.

They do this every holiday season. Actually, they do this all year long - the models with "Special" designation on the website have always sold at the "holiday" prices. I got my pair of Elipsas for $16,800 in 9/2009 as opposed to $20,800.
