Default New Favorite IPA

Green Flash Brewing Co

"West Coast IPA"

Utterly balanced and flavorful, without the palate numbing hop level of others.

Marketed as "extravagantly hopped" though this is all about balance.

Simply delicious.

Anybody else try this one? It's from San Diego, but just entered the Minneapolis market in the past couple of months.

Sounds like a good one - I'll keep my eyes open for it!

My overall favorite is still Terminal Gravity IPA, but my latest discovery that I really love also is Fort George Vortex IPA out of Astoria, Oregon. I would describe it very much the same as you describe the West Coast IPA - very nicely balanced with great aromas and flavor! It keeps you wanting to drink more...

Hi Bavarian. Oh yeah i've tried several Green Flash beers. The West Coast is good and balanced but too tame for me. My long time favorite IPA of theirs is the Palette Wrecker but i just tried the Green Bullet IPA last month and its really good too.

West Coast IPAs/DIPAs on the most part are very hoppy. East Coast tend to be more maltier.

One of my favorites - Bluepoint Hoptical Illusion from my old stopping grounds in Long Island, NY.

Hey Hills,

The Palette Wrecker is also one of my favorites from the west coast. My all time Fav is still Heady Topper by The Alchemist but you can only get it in Vermont and sometimes the Boston area. There are sometimes an oddball skid that gets closer to NJ and PA but rare. It is almost the same recipe as the Palette Wrecker but without that touch of sweetness.

They have a one case limit now even after doubling their production last year. They brew 2 batches a week and sell completely out by Saturday each week. Luckily I have a friend with a condo in Stowe so they bring me a case when I need one, or I get it while up there with them.

One of the best IPAs out there is Masala Mama. Big Dog's also makes some awesome IPAs/DIPAs.
