Default Napa Valley Hotel/Inn Recommendations

I am will be in San Francisco for a conference in Sept. . Since I have not been to Napa in 15 years I wanted to spend a couple of days there after my conference and was looking for some recommendations of nice places to stay ?

My favorite place is/was The Silverado. However, the ownership changed in the past year - while it is still an amazing location, some of the services we were used to having are a little toned down now.

There's quite a few nice B&B's and such in the St. Helena, Rutherford, and Yountville area that always go over well. The Meritage is one that some friends frequent and they enjoyed it.

David,

I would recommend Sonoma instead of Napa. More laid back, prettier, not as hot and wine tasting may be free in some places unlike Napa.

If you are still looking at Napa, I have stayed several times at the Villagio Inn and Spa in Yountville. Excellent location, great service and walking distance to many great restaurants such as the French Laundry. Domaine Chandon is right across Hwy 29 for a great tour of the sparkling wine process and a fantastic restaurant at the winery. The rooms at the Villagio are at the higher pricing tier, however.

Even the Marriot resort is nice in Napa, or go up to ontsVill, a lot of nice places, depends on budget and if you prefer a B&B?

So very nice B&Bs in St Helena too.

In Rutherford, try the Au'berge du Soleil. Nice, quaint location - great views.
