X250.8 users?
I'm thinking of a big upgrade to my power amp, and one idea is the Pass X250.8. I am wondering if any here are using it, and if so, how did you choose it and are you happy with the sound? It would be driving JanZen zA2.1 hybrid-electrostatic speakers.
What is important to me above all else is smooth and clean treble. No roughness, grain, or excess brightness, please! Of course, I appreciate all the other aspects of good sound, too. |

I heard a this 250.8 amp against a XA30.8 and chose the Xa 30.8 you should too!
At least do an ab demo between the two I think I know which one you will pick given your criteria |

Thanks for the idea, Paul! I'll make sure to hear the XA30.8 as well.

I think you might be surprised! Best thing to do is go listen.

I'm currently trying out an X250.8 and liking it. (Both Pass and Reno recommended it for my setup, given that I'm using electrostatic speakers and that I like a wide variety of music, ranging from reggae to solo violin.) It's good enough that it prompted me to move my listening seat to get the best out of it and then re-balance the subs for the smoothest transition and bass. Things I've noticed so far are the liquid midrange and treble; how it makes evident the tonal differences among instruments and recordings; and that it will make a heater superfluous in my basement room in the winter.

P.S. I had to send the X250.8 back. Thanks to Reno HiFi for great service! The heat emission was too much for my relatively small and low-ventilation audio room.
