My dealer mentioned the price increase too and said I was lucky I bought when I did. He had no idea as to why.

I'm stunned by the price increase. The Sopra 2 retailed for $13,999.00 when I bought them three years ago. They're now nearly 20K? How/why is this possible?

It's not. A 33% price increase is going to really tick people off and they are going to look elsewhere. I can't imagine this working out for Focal.

They will not be remotely competitive at the new price point. Lots of great options from other companies.

I Have to agree, at $19,500 the $16,000 Wilson Sabrina's are a no brainer

Except the aesthetics of the Focals far surpass the Wilsons. I’d pay more to not have a pair of the Wilsons making my room ugly.

I like the new Sopra but I like to compare it to my old Mezzo Utopia to see how much better new is compared to buying used old models.

Interesting that you feel so strongly about the Wilsons. Fit & finish on both are superb. Both available in a wide array of colors (especially the Wilson). For me, it would be all about which provided the best sound in my system in my room. Know I would find a color with either that would be near perfect.

I have to agree with the preceeding comments. I don't see $19,500 as a viable price point for the Sopra 2s. For perspective I bought my Sopra 3s for the same amount 2 years ago and I still consider that to be pricey even for a larger speaker. On the upside, I am considering trading my S3s in for something else so this might help to prop up prices for a used unit.

Purchased my Sopra 2's about 3 years ago. They sound fantastic. Have them paired with McIntosh C47, MCT450, M462. Also connected my Paradigm Servo 15 with the X-30 crossover. Now would be a good time for anyone looking for a pair of Sopra 2's to pick up a pair on the used market.
