That will be a fantastic pairing. I have a friend that has X2’s and Lamm amps! Such a sweet sounding combination!

tdotson41, have you checked with Wilson concerning the watts needed to drive the Alexx? I think you will find the Alexx all you hoped it would be and more. It is a terrific speaker. But isn't the Lamm ML2.2 18 watts into 8 ohms? The minimum recommended is 50 watts per channel. It was my experience with my Alexx that to drive it to very loud levels required about 120 watts per channel in order to have a safe comfort envelope. Also a tube amp capable of decent performance at low impedance load would be desirable. I'm afraid the Lamm might clip. The Alexx is highly efficient but 18 watts may not be enough.

Hi Charles, I ended up getting the Lamm M1.2 hybrid amplifier for the Alexx after speaking with Lamm. It’s 110w pure class A into 8ohms. Elina Lamm says it will drive it easily based on my room size and sitting distance. (15W x 23L x 9.5H) Was a little bummed as the ML2.2 is great sounding amp.

Again, congrats! Based on what I am seeing the 1.2 will have plenty of watts. You will never need more than 120 watts with the Alexx and despite its low impedance at certain frequencies, it is easy to drive. I have asked Mac about this. The conclusion I have come to is that it is speakers with constant across the board low impedance that becomes very problematic. If you have a little too much bass remember the cross flow port. I thought the Alexx had the best bass of any speaker I ever heard. The pure class A should be ideal for Alexx.

In looking further at the 1.2 specifications, to say that the Lamm will easily drive the Alexx to full output is an understatement. This amp is extremely powerful and will do 300 watts at 8 ohms and 1,400 watts at 1 ohm. Also the price is extremely reasonable for a class A amp of its obvious build quality (23,890.00). I can see why you like Lamm. Only drawback for me is the power consumption of 330 watts at idle for total of 660 watts and the heat generation. But the sound should be absolutely superb.

Apexorca likes the old Krell FPB series which is pure class A runs very hot but has a unique sliding bias feature that actually works. Still I found the heat generated quite a bit. But I loved the FPB 700 had it totally rebuilt by Krell and kept it for 10 years. You can't beat true class A sound IMO. You will be very pleased I am sure.

p.s.You will need 2 dedicated 20 amp lines for these amps. I would ask Lamm about power conditioners but if you have 2 really clean lines, I would probably go with the new Shunyata power cord specially designed for amps like this. Class A amps do a very good job of pulling power directly from the wall. An AQ HC Dragon would be another consideration for a cord but then I would want to add a Niagara 5000 and another HC Dragon. That's what I have but it gets expensive quick. The Shunyata Sigma has a built in power filtration that I like a lot. It is their newest cord and while very expensive, considering the price of the 1.2 the total price is extremely reasonable. I think the line and the cord make a tremendous difference. I am sure Ivan would agree.

Yeah I was really impressed with midrange and low response of the Alexx. I couldn’t believe that a speaker so big could be so dynamic and delicate. It simply does music.
