Would love to get opinions of favorite bottles in the <$50 and <$25 categories.

It's not about the test, its about humans assigning higher value to more expensive wine. (Wine, Cigars, Audio equipment, etc..) More expensive means better, unless proven otherwise.

Sample away as many wines, Cigars, friends, sexual partners, music and audio gear. You'll find something that will stay with you for a long time. Kidding, but try as much with in reason. Sample a LOT as David S. says!

Also, non-wine drinkers will prefer single variety rather than blends. The later are usually more expensive.

You can always find good inexpensive wine and bad expensive wine but you're more likely to find bad inexpensive wine and good expensive wine. It's a matter of taste and risk taking. At the restaurant, if I don't know the wines offered, I usually stay on the safe side.

I'm a Silver Oak man, and they sure jacked the prices up the last few years.

Not really. Most novice non wine drinkers will like blends.

With all the great wines on the market when was the last time anyone has had a bad bottle rated at various price points?

Its a great time to be into wine!

I have and recently. Inexpensive wine is often cheap wine and I've had overpriced bottles as well.

I'm cheap. It is the wine that is inexpensive.

Our 'standard' table red is Black Box cabernet.
