I've heard the Sophia's with Levinson, Krell, Ayre, and Mac at my dealer. While they all obviously sound good, there is a real synergy with the Macs. Especially the MC402, but the MA7000 didn't suck either. The 7000 and Duette are also a very nice pair. And though this may be heresy in this forum, the $2500 new Krell integrated rocked with both the Duette and Sophia.

Do you have some pictures or something on your dealer? How are you able to get this great gear on loan regularly? Maybe it is because he knows you will buy if it is right like the Lamm's.

As for myself, the Wilson sound is not for me. It just does not excite me.

Just heard the Duette's with the Krell KID/PAPA DOCK today which probably shares much of the topology and components with their new integrated. You're right, it didn't suck.

I have bought tons of stuff from him before. I guess I should know better by now. Today he sent me home with $28k worth of Transparent cables. What happens if I actually like them?

I like tubes in my pre and solid-stage in my amp. Best of both world for my taste. The tubes in the pre add bloom and warmth without heating up my room and having to be changed every 2000hrs or so.

Serge ask Jerry he knows how much I like the MBL gear but for me to start over putting together an entire system built on say a pair of 9008's, 6010d, 1611F Dac, 1622 SACD transport and the 101eVII, the list price is $187k or about $130 OTD. If it was used with the non V2 version of the 101's it would still be about $70k.

I am thinking of just getting either the new 111F's or used 101e's. depends on how the market moves in the next year.

Serge.......There is no doubt about it, the MBL preamp and power amps are gorgeous.

Serge you are a DEADLY big spender!

Transparent Opus MM? I have seen these "monsters" but never have the chance to listen. For the elite!

Please share your experience. Would be nice to know and learn.

Cheers!

I use Transparent but only at the Ultra level. I believe in good cables but the Reference XL and Opus lines would cost more than my amps.

Jim,

When one hit the Opus MM arena, the amps would have costs MORE by then!

Relative, Einstein theory!

A case for example, when you had the B&W's, the amp was just the MC402 right? What happen now? MBL and boom, MC1.2k where I remembered we talked about my 2 sets of MC1201's over a cuppa during your first visit where then, the MC501 were more than ample.

Progress my friend. But tubes wise, these could only happen backwards on wattage while the dollar value zooms crazily upwards! 150 SET watts at $70k ... imagine that!

Do go for the 101E's and not the 111's. Then you are happy!

I am still waiting to meet you again! This time, coffee with cakes!

Cheers!
